Assistant Professor – Visual Communication

The department of communication at The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) seeks an assistant professor in visual communication (F09/10-13): on-line news/magazine storytelling, photography, video editing, interactive design, new media, and communication design.

Position Requirements:
• Terminal degree in related field
• University-level teaching experience in the above referenced content areas preferred
• Evidence of effective teaching as demonstrated by course syllabi and teaching evaluations
• Professional experience a plus
• Able to use and teach a variety of software packages: Photoshop, FinalCut Pro, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.

The department of communication is searching for a creative innovator who can help lead the department in synthesizing print and mediated forms of mass communication. The department has national/international award-winning student publications, actively participates in student competitions, and is annually recognized as a leader in educating Hispanic communication professionals. The department’s graduate program is experiencing significant growth. The person who fills this position will play an integral part in the expanding graduate program.
