SPANISH APPLIED LINGUISTICS, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE TRACK (F09/10-30) The University of Texas – Pan American (UTPA) is seeking applications and nominations to fill an Assistant Professor position in Spanish Applied Linguistics. The faculty member will teach courses and participate in the Spanish undergraduate and graduate programs housed in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. The faculty member will also be expected to contribute substantially to curriculum development, grant writing, and teaching within the Professional Languages Initiative within the College of Arts and Humanities. Candidates with a research focus on Spanish language education and/or language assessment are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly achievement. The initial teaching load will be intermediate, advanced, and graduate courses in Spanish with the opportunity to develop new general education, upper division, and graduate courses in the area of specialization. ABD candidates are invited to apply, but all candidates must possess a PhD in Spanish, Applied Linguistics, Language Education or related field by Fall 2010.
