Assistant Professor – Hispanic Linguistics

HISPANIC LINGUISTICS, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, TENURE TRACK (F09/10-32)
The University of Texas – Pan American is seeking applications and nominations to fill an Assistant Professor position in Hispanic Linguistics. Candidates with a research focus in translation and language use in professional settings will be preferred. The faculty member will teach courses and participate in the Spanish and Latin American Studies major and minor programs. The faculty member will also participate substantially in curriculum development, grant writing, and teaching in the Professional Language Initiative within the College of Arts and Humanities. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly achievement. The initial teaching load will be beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses in Spanish, Latin American Studies and other appropriate disciplines, with the opportunity to develop new general education, upper division, and graduate courses. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply, but all candidates must possess a PhD in Spanish, Linguistics, or related field by Fall 2010.
